Desperate Mummy - Staying at Home Mother

Do you remember the time when women stay home and men go out to work and we women fight for equal rights to work and now we have equality? Now that we achieve that equality, I am sure there are some of us out there like me who actually wish that we could turn back time to thse medieval days where man is the bread winner and woman provide the comfort of home and take care of the children. Of course, I am sure many women out there will disagree with me. This website is tailored for those who have experienced the corporate world and the domestic engineering world and decided that being a stay at home mother is more than what it seems.

HOME ENGINEER IS STILL A PROFESSION

A bit about myself: I am an engineer that has gone on 1 year maternity leave and dread the thought of going back to work (work as an engineer). Therefore I have decided to give internet marketing a try In addition, I am fussy so none of the childcare seems to meet up to my expectation. This website features all staying at home mother issues which includes feeding, cooking, behaviour and social stigma. Find out more about more about all these issues in my Parenting , Cooking , Baby Stuff , Behaviour (Social Expectation) , page.

Therefore please bookmark this page, make a purchase or even join me in having your own website. I'll hope that this website could make my dream to be a full time stay at home mum viable.

Childcare

I'll explain why I am so reluctant to put my child in childcare. Basically I think that the first 2-3 years of their life, they are developing their selt estemn and being put in a childcare kind of makes me feel I am abandoning them. Will the child feel a bit like a yo-yo being back and forth with different caregivers? When I put myself in their shoe by imagining life as a circle, I would really like to be home being taken care by someone I trust when I am in my twilight years. I wouldnt mind being in a retirement village in my golden years though.....so if I equate my twilight years to the babies first few years, then I would prefer to be there to take care of the child. Well, hopefully with karma, my child will take care of me in my twilight years! :)

My opinion on childcare

After 3 visits to the childcare, I have drawn my own conclusion why childcare will not work on my son.
1) There's 10+ toddlers/babies in one room - how could you possibly expect your child to sleep or eat? My super active son is so distracted that sleep and eat is the last thing on his mind!
2) The educaters/caregivers are really nice people but not one of them is a mother! Only a mother has the mother's instinct and trained to have eyes behind the head. True to the point, I see a baby falling off the chair. When I saw one of the educators leaving the baby on the chair, my first thought was "She'll fall" and in 1 minute, she landed face flat on a toy syringe too!
3) 1 caregiver:4 child is too much of a burden and attention could not be given to a child. I see that my child is left playing by himself since he is happy doing that.
4) Not sure how discipline is implemented since playtime is the main focus. At home, my son has a routine i.e playtime, sleeptime, eat time. If he lingers on his eat time, he gets less playtime. He is also required to pick all his toys before going to bed.
Anyway, these are my thoughts and I am sure many of you will disagree with me. If you want to give your opinion, feel free to e-mail (e-mail add in Baby Stuff page).
